House Church & Fellowship Gathering Order of Service
A complete, repeatable weekly order of worship for living-room house churches, prayer circles, and small fellowships rooted in Scripture, open reflection, intercession, and shared table bread.
Helpful delivery notes for the officiant
- Arrange chairs in a living-room circle rather than rows so every participant meets eye-to-eye and shy guests feel part of a family table.
- Rotate reading Scripture and hosting hospitality across members so the fellowship grows healthy shared leadership rather than depending on a single voice.
- If your fellowship collects any benevolent gift for neighbors in need, keep two signers and transparent written records from day one.
Call to Gathered Worship & Peace Greeting
Welcome home, friends, to [PARTNER A], and thank you to [PARTNER B] for opening these doors today. For the first three centuries of Christian history, the Church had no cathedrals—it gathered around living rooms and kitchen tables just like this one, devoting itself to Scripture, prayer, generosity, and the breaking of bread. Hear Jesus’ promise: "Where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them." Turn to the neighbors beside you now and greet one another with the ancient blessing: "The peace of Christ be with you."
Opening Prayer of Illumination
Let us pray together. Living God, thank You for carrying each person in this circle through the week behind us—with all its quiet victories, unanswered questions, and ordinary labor. Still the hurry inside our chests this morning. Open our ears to hear truth without defensiveness, soften our hearts toward one another in genuine agape love, and meet [PARTNER A] right here in [PARTNER B] by Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture Reading & Open Table Reflection
As we open Scripture together at [PARTNER A], we read not merely to win arguments or collect information, but to be shaped into wiser, kinder servants. After our passage is read aloud twice, let us sit in thirty seconds of unhurried silence, then share freely around the circle around three simple questions: First, what word, phrase, or picture stood out most sharply to you today? Second, what does this passage reveal about the character of God? And third, what is one concrete step of love or obedience this invites in your week ahead?
Prayers of the People — Joys, Burdens & Intercession
Scripture urges us to rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep, and bear one another’s burdens. What spoken or unspoken gratitude, worry, illness, or neighborly need can [PARTNER A] carry together in prayer this week? After each person shares, anyone who wishes may voice a brief prayer, concluding with the words, "Lord, in Your mercy," to which we will respond together, "Hear our prayer." Let us hold everything shared inside [PARTNER B] in strict trust and loving care.
Agape Table Fellowship & Thanksgiving Over Bread
At the center of our gathering stands an open table of grace. On the night Jesus was betrayed, seated among imperfect friends, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said, "This is My body, given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way after supper He took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, poured out for the forgiveness of sins." Gracious Lord, bless this bread and cup among [PARTNER A]; unite us in humility, heal every division, and nourish us to love as we have been loved. Come—the table of grace is ready.
Commissioning & Benediction for the Week Ahead
Friends of [PARTNER A], our worship does not end when we step out the front door of [PARTNER B]—our service in the neighborhood is just beginning. Go into your workplaces, kitchens, schools, and streets this week as peacemakers, truth-tellers, and quiet bearers of hope. May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the unconditional agape love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit abide with every household represented here, today and all week long. Amen!
